Problem in downloading gifs

Hi all,
I have a problem in downloading gifs. The text section of a page loads
immediately whereas the gifs take a long time to load. It takes about 15 mts
to load a site like yahoo.com,whereas a site like google.com loads in just 1
or 2 seconds. But one thing unless all the gifs are downloaded fully I am not
able to type anything on the address bar. Now abt the platform I run viewml.

I am having a custom board based on Strong ARM(sa1110) processor.
I am using arm-linux-gcc-2.95.2 and libc is 2.1.3. My microwin vesion is
0.89pre8, flnx version is 0.16 and the libwww version is 5.2.8 . I have not
used the option --disable-shared when I configured libwww using
./configure. Due to this the viewml I compiled has dependecies on all the
lib*.so files installed by libwww. In contrast the viewml precompiled version
for StrongARM depends on only libwwwxmlparse.so and libwwwxmltk.so. My
stripped viewml comes to around 1.2 MB. Could some one help me solve the gif
problem please?
